How To Set Up A Ninjaline Without Trees
"I live in sunny Phoenix, AZ. My kids are always telling me about backyard ninjalines, but as you can probably imagine, our yard leaves a lot to be desired in terms of trees. Is there another way the ninjaline courses can be set up besides using trees?"
We have heard from many customers just like this one, who are excited about their new ninjaline kit, but are struggling to set it up with a lack of access to healthy trees at their home.
Our Ninjalines are able to be hung between any two sturdy anchor points. While the Slackers Ninjaline was originally designed to be hung from 2 healthy trees, we have since had the lines tested and approved to be used between two wooden posts cemented into the ground.
There are a couple advantages to using posts rather than trees:
1: the ability to plan and measure out your course exactly how you want
2: the smaller size of the posts in comparison to large trees take up less of your line leaving you with more space for additional obstacles
With these two benefits, you know that your family will be able to utiilize the maximum space possible on your ninjaline!
We want to make sure you and your family are able to enjoy the fun and excitement of staying active and playing in the air in your very own backyard, regardless of what kind of yard you have.
So let's get down to the details of what to use and how to use it when installing posts for your ninjaline!
Please note:
***As with interior installations, we always recommend consulting with an engineer or contractor for specifications on installation and how to determine the suitable load strength of the posts.***
Make sure you have all of the proper tools and supplies ready to begin the project. We recommend:
- Two 6x6 posts at 14-16' height made from a strong wood. We strongly suggest using fir and advise against using pine.
- Fence post digger
- Towable Hydraulic Auger
- Concrete mixing tray
- Tarp
- Quick setting concrete
- Find an area in your yard suitable for the course yet safe for the children to be playing in. This includes: soft ground, no stumps, no metal railing, no cement, no gravel and at least 6 feet in each direction of soft grass to land on in the case of a fall.
- Dig the holes at least 1/3 of the height of the posts inches into the ground. to ensure stability when bearing the weight of the line.
- Follow Ninjaline Instructions to properly test load strength just as you would with trees.
